Official Statement on the Passing of Jose J. Ong

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Chairman and Co Founder Jose J. Ong this morning, November 14, 2019. He was 78 years old. Boss Pepe, as we fondly called him, was a loving father not just to his immediate family, but also to his CDO Foodsphere family of 5000 employees. He was our coach, our rock – always inspiring us with his pioneering ideas, his passion and resilience; always there to remind us that nothing is impossible. He will forever be remembered with love and fondness. We mourn the passing away of our Boss Pepe, who together with his wife Cora, built CDO from humble beginnings over 44 years ago in Valenzuela City. Today, CDO Foodsphere Inc. is one of the country’s largest food companies, with CDO as a beloved household brand along with CDO Funtastyk, CDO Idol, San Marino, Highlands, Holiday and Danes. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cora; his children and in-laws, Jerome & Dayday, Charmaine & Mike, and Jason & Sarah; his grandchildren; brothers Ricardo & Armando and sister Remedios, and his nephews and nieces.

The Ong family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and comforting words. We would also like to request your continuing prayers for the family during this time of grief.
His remains lie in state at the Heritage Park, Taguig City. The wake will take place from Friday, November 15 until Monday, November 18, 12 noon to 10 p.m. Daily masses will be celebrated at 7 p.m., while the funeral mass will be on Tuesday, November 19, 10 a.m. at the Heritage Park.
In lieu of flowers, the Ong family requests donations to the Odyssey Foundation, Inc.
